Since March 1955, the Zachary Lions Club has served the community in many areas by sponsorships of events, direct services, donations, etc.
Provides assistance with the purchase of eyeglasses, provide help with eyeexams and eye surgery for needy residents of the community.Collects used eye glasses. Takes an active part in the Cubsight program .
Sponsors handicapped children to the Lions Children Camp in Leesville.
Supports District and State Projects: Louisiana Lions Children Camp in Leesville, Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation in New Orleans, Lions/Miles for Smiles (Spring Bicycle tour), Lions on the Trace (Bicycle ride sponsored by the Lions of Region 6), Louisiana Big Bass Rodeo sponsored by the Lions of Louisiana, etc.
Supports National and International Lions projects: Lions World Services for the Blinds, Leader Dogs School for the Blinds,Lions Clubs International Foundation through Melvin Jones Fellowships and Members Contributors program. So far our small club has honored 16 club members with a Melvin Jones Fellowship and presently we have 12 Melvin Jones Fellows in our 20 members club.
